Poetry, Poetry, & More Poetry

One week, three events, all in Jersey City

This week is an exciting one, as I'll be participating in three local events--one poetry reading (with a poetry open mic, so don't be shy!), plus two events for JC Fridays, Jersey City's free quarterly arts festival.

On Wednesday: Featured Poet / WAYE Poetry Series

On Wednesday evening I'll be the featured poet for the WAYE, a wonderful poetry series held every month at Sure Things in Jersey City Heights, and the location--around the corner from my house--could not be sweeter. The series always includes a Poetry Open Mic, so bring your work and arrive at 7:30pm to claim a spot at the mic.

This one is a real treat! On Friday, my poetry, along with plays and stories by several other writers--will be brought to life on the stage at the brand new home of Art House Productions. The 7th Annual Healing Voices, a special Access JC Fridays event, is directed by Heather Wahl and features stories of caregiving and healthcare by writers from the NY metropolitan area.

On Friday: Words & Drums

After Healing Voices, I'll be dashing across town to Words & Drums -- but just because I'll be arriving late (oh, for the power to be in two places at the same time) doesn't mean you shouldn't get there at 7pm when this JC Fridays evening of percussion, poetry, and music, presented by Destination Art Space & Greenville Arts Crossroads, begins.

The Greenville-based collective celebrates the words of homegrown poets accompanied by Jersey City percussionist, Carmen Arroyo. Curated by Rescue Poetix, this poetry event is where rhythm, words and community bloom. Don’t miss this evening of refined groove ending with world music from, Georgina - La China Sonidera. Program produced by Melida Rodas of “Greenville Arts Crossroads” & “Destination Art Space.”

In Case You Missed It...

Thank you to Jacinta White at Snapdragon: A Journal of Art & Healing for presenting The Poetics of Caregiving earlier this month on Facebook Live. If you missed this reading of poems on healing, community, and caregiving by Jennifer R. Edwards, Lopamudra Basu and me, you can view it here.

Perhaps I'll see you this week in person - what a delight that would be! Thanks everyone, and take care,

Ann
